The Clear Lam Forming Films Division supports the rapidly expanding demand for rigid rollstock used to package foods, electronics, personal health care products, and industrial goods. The Forming Films Division develops and manufactures monolayer and multilayer rollstock sold to consumer packaged goods companies with form fill seal equipment as well as to industrial thermoforming companies.
The Forming Films business unit operates sheet extrusion lines, various blending systems, laminators, and slitters. It produces a variety of materials including PET, RPET, Bio-PET, modified PLA, PP and HIPS. In addition, numerous custom laminations are produced that include evoh for enhanced oxygen barrier and polyethylene for hermetic sealing.
Recently Clear Lam successfully launched a new generation of yogurt cups made from renewable plant based plastic. These materials are produced from modified poly lactic acid and deliver improved performance over the structures being replaced. In addition, Clear Lam developed a new generation of innovative barrier structures produced from 80 % renewable raw materials. These products allow food processors to reduce the use of petroleum based plastics without compromising performance. These new plant-based materials are part of the Project EarthClear Initiative They are used on form-fill-seal machines to package such items as pastas, egg rolls, sliced meats, burritos and other prepared meals.
Clear Lam offers RPET structures with improved impact resistance and clarity. These materials are used by a variety of thermoforming companies that produce containers for freezer applications or high abuse applications. Clear Lam works closely with customers to establish the necessary performance characteristics for specific applications.
